7/7/2010 NEWPORT, RI

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICHARD FEINGOLD!

While still hot, it was more bearable today with a slight breeze. We were greeted at the Internation Tennis Hall of Fame by the jolly, giant Penn Tennis Ball. For those of you that have been, it is the same smiling young man that has welcomed the spectators in years past. Talk about a “Hot Job”!

FOLLOW THE BOUNCING BALL

Last day of tennis news for a while. Sam lost to Jamaica’s Dustin Brown who was just on fire for the match. Later in the day, Carsten Ball and Chris Guccione squeaked past Sam and Mardy Fish in a hardy doubles match.

MARDY, SAM AND THE "TENNIS BALL" GRAB SOME FUEL BEFORE DOUBLES MATCH

DOUBLES MATCH:  MARDY AND SAM

Tennis wasn’t the only sports being watched on the grounds today. Many eyes were glued to the few TVs on site that showed the World Cup. Sorry Germany but Spain held tight to win.

Steven drove down to bring us some” much needed” parts and pieces and to join us for a few days. He arrived just in time to see the final point of the doubles match and say “Hi” and Good –bye” to Sam who was heading to Boston for an early morning flight.
