Our busy day started out with much activity. First, the swiveling train bridge was out of commission and the Amtrak trains, coming and going were stuck on either side. Woops! There goes the schedule. We never did see it open.
I'M WAITING!
After casting off we made a quick stop at Abbot’s Lobster in the Rough where Richard and Barbara convinced them to sell lobsters and chowder way before opening time. Good eats for dinner tonight!
BUSY HANDS
ABBOT'S LOBESTER IN THE ROUGH
This July 4th was a beautiful, sun kissed, breezy day with boaters buzzing all about and beach revelers basking. Everyone was in a celebratory mood and proudly displaying their colors.
CRAFTMANSHIP
We made our way into the Newport Harbor, passing impressive mansions, Fort Adams (dating to pre-civil war times) and high flying kites.
CASTLE HILL
FORT ADAMS
KITE CONGESTION
Docking at the Newport Yachting Center was a breeze with our "highly trained" crew and the helpful dock hands. Thanks everyone!
OUR HOME IN NEWPORT
Dan and Richard prepared the fresh lobsters on the aft BBQ and we dined, picnic style, on the forward deck while the setting sun presented us with her own version of “fireworks”. Later we all enjoyed the scheduled aerial display from the deck and were duly impressed.
CHOW DOWN
NATURE'S GIFT TO US
These are some of the proudly displayed symbols of allegiance we encountered on this magnificent July 4th.
WHOSE BOLD STRIPES AND BRIGHT STARS.....
