6/15/2010 SOLOMONS TO DEALE, MD

BUSY AS A BEE

This was a busy morning for us all. Dan and Richard remounted the air-conditioner water pump to make it quieter (worked great) and then put a coat of varnish on the wood railing. Good work guys!

Charlene and I got a ride to the market with the dock hand. OK, he wasn’t quite like the taxi driver in Savannah but might have been a close second. He did, however, generously offer his car services and wait for us.

As we traveled up the Chesapeake Bay we were, again, overwhelmed by the powerful military presences in this area. It is most impressive and includes ships, fuel docks, communication facilities and airplanes. If you ever wonder just where our tax dollars are going, take a trip up the Chesapeake!

Today’s travels brought us Harrington Harbor South in Deale. We worked our way up the channel to the marina and docked with no heavy current, wind or hoopla! We were greeted by this flock of geese looking for handouts.

HOLY GEESE!

Talk about going from “rags to riches”! Last night’s marina was barley acceptable and tonight’s digs are plush. There is a beautiful pool, gift shop, lovely restaurant, flowering gardens, laundry facilities, cottages and a beach.

After dinner onboard the Quest we took an evening walk to the beach and enjoyed the cool evening breeze while Charlene got her toes wet in the water.
