6/14/2010 YORK, VA TO SOLOMONS, MD

I can’t believe how immense this Chesapeake Bay is. It is almost like being in the ocean at times. We encountered battleships and fishing boats, sailboats and motor yachts.

YOU WIN!

Dan and Richard made good use of their motoring time today by reworking the Panama Canal lines and making them useable for everyday tie up. Charlene found the perfect spot to get comfy and read up on Savannah for her upcoming trip there with Sandy.

NOT KNOTS?

GETTING INTO THE RELAXATION MODE

We passed the Potomac River and continued north before turning into the Patuxent River for Solomons Island. As we neared the turn we found this mega communications center. Is this not impressive?

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?

Harbor island Marina was slightly seedy but we finally got the power working and made fast for the night. It was a beautiful little bay and we enjoyed the views from our Quest.

HARBOR ISLAND MARINA

IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

We walked a few blocks to the Solomons Pier Restaurant and had the best Crab Cakes. They were the size of a baseball and solid crab. We view the approaching night sky from their vantage point.

NOW THAT'S A CRAB CAKE!

LIKE A BRIDGE OVER "PEACEFUL" WATERS

After strolling back to the Quest we played a few hands of Fan Tan and listened to the patrolling aircraft flying overhead. Boy, are we ever in” military country”.

GOOD NIGHT QUEST, GOOD NIGHT MOON
