6/11/2010 ROANOKE ISLAND TO COINJOCK MARINA

Cooler temps and foggy conditions were apparent early this morning. Gee, it’s beach weather!! By the time we had gotten breakfast and walked, the haze was gone and it warmed way up during the day.

The lovely Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse was dedicated by the Town of Manteo in 2004. It is an exterior reconstruction of the square cottage-style screw-pile which stood at the entrance to the Croatan Sound before being decommissioned in 1955 and lost during an attempt to move it.

Time to go and Dan is preparing for the cast off.

Crab traps are everywhere!! At one time we were apparently in a crab trap freeway!! Its hard work but we are all thankful for their crop.

CRAB TRAP FREEWAY

Coinjock Marina is truly in the middle of nowhere with a hopping bar and restaurant. We watched the parking lot fill up as people kept coming and coming all evening. Good food from fried chicken to crab cakes, prime rib and rib eye steaks!

QUEST AT THE COINJOCK MARINA

BY THE WAY, Sam won his quarterfinals match at London’s Queen’s Club by defeating Malisse and will play Schuettler in the semifinals tomorrow. Go Sam!!
