5/1/2010 CARNIVAL IN GRAND CAYMAN

After a little morning boat work and a slight “tizzy fit” on my part, Dan and I were off to the beach!! Finally!! We found a niche just at the Westin and swam in the ocean, sunbathed on the white sand and even took a dip in their pool. NICE!

Lunch was a burger and fries at Eats Café then off to the local Batabano Carnival Parade that inched through town. Yes, they move on island time. What a riot of colors and characters. The participants came is all sizes and shapes but were all full of themselves and having a good time. We were even treated to two steel drum bands in the parade. Sweet!

STRUT YOUR STUFF!!

Later in the evening we cleaned up, checked out the final weigh-in for the fishing tournament and headed back into town for a last glimpse of the Carnival night life and dinner. We got slightly sidetracked and ended up driving a little further towards the east side and found some beautiful homes and a whole different residential community. There is still much to explore farther out there but I guess we will save that for another trip.

Back in town we found things still hopping and roamed for a while before hitting a booth where they were cooking fish, fried bread dumplings and breadfruit. Bet it will be a tamer town tomorrow as the revelers were still parting hardy.
