5/3/2010 LAST DAY IN CAYMAN ISLANDS

Lots to accomplish today. Dan put one last light coat of varnish on the top border of wood then we dropped the boys off to do laundry while we did the marketing. While Dan headed back to retrieve the boys, I worked on putting away groceries and preparing food for the trip back to the USA. Thanks again to Alexis for the great spaghetti pie recipe that can be made ahead and then only nuked while at sea. Dan and Robert made the jaunt to Customs and Immigration but found that everyone had to be present at Immigration. The agent graciously agreed to come out to the marina to check us out. Nice service.

When everything was ready to go we untied and moved to the fuel dock and loaded up for the long journey. The Caymans are quite expensive but we had great service from everyone we dealt with.

ROBERT ENJOYING THE VIEW

After slowly maneuvering our way through the zig-zaggy path out of the North Sound, Dan anchored where we could take one last swim and snorkel a bit. I saw rays, scads of fish and even a moray eel. Beautiful!! We headed on our way by 4:00 PM and began our night at sea. We came within one mile of a HUGE freighter. Now one mile may seem like plenty of distance but when you are out there in the ocean that ship looks mighty close!!
