3/2/2011 NEW ROVER, FORT LAUDERDALE

DAN EARNS HIS F.C.C. OPERATORS LICENSE

WEDNESDAY

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 0 NM

My project for today entailed applying oil to the entire salon area. It was way overdue and desperately needed. I must say, it looks divine! Tomorrow I will tackle another room.

During the hours I spent working in the salon, I listened to the “Ding, ding, ding” warning sounded each time the SE 3ed Avenue Bridge is opened and closed. This bridge master is super alert to the boaters and sometimes it will open several times within just a few minutes span. There is a near constant flow of boats passing by from the little water taxis to the day trippers, fishing boats, sailboats, motor yacht cruisers and mega-yachts. There is always something to look at.

SOME OF THE CURVES ARE TIGHT AND THE CURRENT CAN BE SWIFT

During the afternoon I ventured out to the Home Depot to explore the possible light fixtures to replace the floor lamp in the salon then went on to Office Depot to research the small cameras. I came back knowing that it will be difficult to find wall sconces narrow enough to fit between the salon windows and totally confused about the camera issue!! It was rewarding to get out for a long bike ride though.

Dan’s days are long and filled with much reading and testing. Today, along with the regular day course from 8 to 4, he completed a night class in which he prepared for, took and passed the test for a FCC Radio Operator’s License. He is one whipped puppy when he returns to the Quest each night. Tomorrow night he will take the necessary First Aid class then, I think, be done with the night classes.
