3/13/2011 NEW RIVER, FORT LAUDERDALE AND MOTORING AROUND ON THE ALGONQUIN

SUNDAY

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 0 NM

SUNRISE:  7:33 AM     SUNSET: 7:28 PM
HIGH:   75                     LOW: 60

Dan was a working fool today. First he installed the new senders for the new oil pressure gages then he tackled the big, nasty job of changing the oil and filters in both engines. Good work, Dan!

He was rewarded for all his hard work when Garth on the Algonquin came over and asked if Dan might be kind enough to accompany them on an outing with their newly acquired Hatteras. Dan, of course, jumped at the chance and we were off by 3:00. Garth had a very un-cooperative hired captain move the boat to this location but got no instructional help or experience driving the boat. He was like a “kid in a candy store” piloting his own craft with Dan’s guidance and assistance. We all had a great day and both Garth and Cathy gained confidence in their ability to make their journey.

GARTH AT THE WHEEL

We had heard rumors that Steven Spielberg’s yacht was here in the Fort Lauderdale waters and found it while tootling around. Our suspicions were confirmed by a dock hand when we took the Algonquin in to have the tanks pumped out. So this is what you can have if you are truly one of the rich and famous.

STEVEN SPIELBERG'S SEVEN SEAS
282' IN LENGTH THAT COSTS $200 MILLION

Garth and Cathy took us to the Downtowner for a great meal of “all you can eat” king crab legs. I truly had to throw in the towel and give in!
