1/8/2011 DINNER KEY MARINA TO ANCHORAGE BY THE VENETIAN EAST DRAWBRIDGE

SATURDAY

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 12 NM

We found a fantastic IGA market on SW 32 Avenue where we did a bang-up job of provisioning up for our journey across to Bimini and Andros. Dick graciously accepted the appointment to “Head Honcho” in the kitchen. Yes, I am a happy camper!

We stowed all the supplies while Dan returned the rental. This didn’t go quite as well as planned for Dan. It seems that he managed to acquire an extra special Miami souvenir from the local police department for “failing to come to a complete stop” at the stop sign. How rude to be so inhospitable to us transients!!

Breakfast came late but, finally, we made it to the exquisite little French bistro that we had stumbled upon during our last visit. Le Bouchon (33430 Main Highway, Coconut Grove, FL) is a step into Paris. Be sure to look them up when you are in this area. (http://www.lebouchondugrove.com/)

Cheryl and I got sidetracked while searching for an ATM. Silly girls!! We ducked into a great little antique store with lots of old sparkly baubles and both came out with German made rings, one from the 30s and the other from the 50s. While we were spending money, the guys got the Quest to the fuel dock and made ready to leave.

OUR EMPTY BERTH IN  DINNER KEY MARINA

Our short journey took us by the Miamarina at Bayside where we watched a live musical performance from our cozy Quest. The crowd was hopping and this guy caught our attention as he “moved to the groove”.

FEELING GROOVY!

We anchored for the night right by the charming Venetian East Drawbridge and dined on Dick’s delicious Shrimp Diablo with Pasta and Cheryl’s salad. Mighty tasty Chefs Hanson!

VENETIAN EAST DRAWBRIDGE

It looks like tomorrow morning will offer us the perfect opportunity to make the crossing to Bimini and we are prepared to take advantage of that weather window. We have no idea what the WI-FI situation will be so check for updates periodically.
