1/2/2011 KEY WEST TO ISLAND FUSH COMPANY IN MARATHON

SUNDAY

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 52 NM

So long Key West! We’ve had a great visit but it is now time to move on. After returning the rented bikes we met for our last KW breakfast right at the local Harpoon Harry’s. Then it was scramble time. Swab that deck, return those keys, pull in those lines and then let’s go boys!

HARPOON HARRY'S
I gotta say folks; our guests were real troopers as Dan motored us out into the nasty waters. The wind was blowing and the Gulf Current was turbulent. We were all hanging on! Jan and Debi did fine, finding that sleeping gets you right through the roughest times.

After heading north back under the 7 mile bridge, the waters calmed back down offering us a smooth ride to the Island Fish Company where we docked for a mighty tasty dinner. We even tried the deep fried key lime pie. Not my favorite! Since all-night-docking was a “no-no”, we pulled out about a 50 yards and dropped the hook for the night.
