10/10/2010 GREEN TURTLE BAY DAY 11

10/10/2010 GREEN TURTLE BAY MARINA DAY 11

SUNDAY

We made a morning run to the little Paducah airport to return Dan’s rental car then I got my Swedish Crepe fix at IHOP. I’m good for several months now!

So here we are, cruising along the freeway and “Holy Cow!” “What is that?” Well, it was, of course, a helicopter on a flat-bed trailer being transported on the freeway. It was a medical chopper for the city of Atlanta. Now that is something you don’t see every day.

Dan finished up his boat chores in preparation for our departure tomorrow. He checked and added water where needed in the batteries, serviced and replaced a faulty gasket in the generator fuel filter and changed out a couple light bulbs. We are all ready to go! Tomorrow morning we will head to the fuel dock to pump out the holding tanks and fill up the fuel tanks.

Just before dark we made one last walk around the marina and resort property, checking out the cool boats and cozy cottages. We found a place to watch the Barkley Lock but no boats were locking through.

KelLe made it to Big Bear!  Only 12 of the original 32 made the entire journey.  The last day, while only a 58 mile grind from Barstow, over Goat Mountain and finally into Big Bear, it took a long 8 hours.

WAY TO GO KELLE!
