Planning on
a rather early start due to the numerous miles we needed to cover today, we all
got up early to be ready. Only one
little thing, we totally forgot that daylight savings time ended this morning! “Spring
forward, Fall back!” That put us up
around 5:30 AM. Even dragging our feet
Quest was off by 6:30.
Since the
day was so beautiful Quest slipped out the St. Catherine Sound and took to the
sea around 10ish. It was so nice to
finally be back out in the ocean and we all enjoyed the rockin’n’a’rolin’. The shrimpers were out in force on this
gorgeous day, spreading their massive netting wings that sweep the waters for
those tasty shrimp.

Following the channel markers we made our way back inside at the St. Simon Inlet. We were greeted by the St. Simons Island Lighthouse (1872) and a wedding party having photos taken at her base.
General
James Oglethorpe established Georgia’s first military outpost here in 1736 at
Fort Frederica. Wood milled from local oak
trees was used during the Revolutionary War to construct war ships, the USS Constitution being one of those. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Constitution
