12/12/2010 BRADENTON (CORTEZ) AND ROGER WILLIAMS

SUNDAY

TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 0 NM

Again we started our day with a bike ride then packed ourselves into the car and took off driving around the islands like Anna Maria Island and Long Boat Key then sticking our noses in some of the Sarasota communities. We ended up at the Hulls where Joann and Debbie were making holiday cookies and we all had to chip in our “two cent’s worth”.

HOLIDAY COOKING IN THE HULL'S KITCHEN

Our afternoon treat was a concert by Roger Williams at the Neel Performing Arts Center of the State College of Florida in Sarasota. Yes, he is still alive and kicking with his backup musicians of 15 years. This 86 year old man put on a fabulous show, giving us a taste of so many of his musical pieces. He did Laura from Dr. Zhivago, Autumn Leaves, Born Free, The Impossible Dream and many of his other super hits.

The Hulls created another scrumptious meal for dinner and we all enjoyed our last evening together in their comfortable home. Thanks so much for making our visit here such an enjoyable one!

By the time we got back to the Quest, the wind was gusting, the seas tumultuous and the ropes badly in need of some readjusting.
