THE FINAL DAY OF THE 5 “F” CELEBRATION
SATURDAY
TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 0 NM
Today’s activities would included two more races, music by the school kids in town and the closing ceremonies complete with more band music and the awarding of the coveted trophies. Another busy day!
Touch Me Not received a new mast so, again, there were 6 “C” class boats participating in the remaining two races. We dinked out to the starting line to watch the anchor start. The race started with the drop of the flag and a flurry of activity to pull up anchor and get the sail out. Today’s course took the boats through the many anchored sailboats and dingys. They had to maneuver through the maze of boats, make the corner close to shore and then head back out. I am happy to report that there were no fatalities or even contact made. Touch Me Not took the first race but Thunderbird came back and won the second race. That gave them a total of 3 wins.

The closing ceremonies we held at the airport. The marching band, made up of kids from all the neighboring island school kids, started things off. We experienced a little diversion when a landing plane momentarily commanded our attention. The kids provided a great show for the cruisers and islanders alike.

Trophies were awarded, speeches made and the festival wrapped up. I think things went on and on in town though. Done until next year.
