THURSDAY
TOTAL MILES TRAVELED TODAY: 26 NM
Wolf Island (MM192) proved to be another peaceful resting place and we were all off the hook by 8:45, heading for the Pickwick Lock and Dam that was about 14 miles away.
BOTH HOMES HAVE FUNICULARS TO THE SHORE
At MM 198 we passed by the Shiloh National Park which was established in 1894 to preserve the site of the bloody April 1862 battle that resulted in the wounding, missing or death of nearly 24,000 Union and Confederate soldiers.
A GLIMPSE OF SHILOH NATIONAL PARK |
Just a couple miles shy of the lock Ed, leading the lineup of us Loopers, spotted this American Bald Eagle surveying his kingdom from the top of a naked tree. He certainly commanded our rapt attention and cameras were clicking from all the boats.

Having no place to be in the near future, we decided to tag along with the rest of the group for now. Blue Angel showed us all the beautiful little cove with a cascading waterfall and then we all headed back to Grand Harbor Marina, right at the off chute of Yellow Creek (MM 215) and the beginning of the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
OK, so here’s the deal. When we are on our boats in the marina we are in Mississippi. However, when we are on land in the resort property, we are in Tennessee. Go figure that one!

YEP, THAT'S TODD AND CHARLIE
Todd, Dan and I used the marina’s courtesy van for a trip to the Lowe’s in nearby Savannah, TN. We were lucky and found the needed water expansion tank. Dan switched it out with our damaged one and we are now all set. What a guy!
Catfish for dinner!! No, there was no fishing done but all ten of us piled into the van and headed for Hagy’s Catfish Hotel in Shiloh. (www.catfishhotel.com). This establishment began in 1938 when Norman and Dorothy Hagy opened their doors and served up their yummy fried catfish and hushpuppies. This plate holds the remains of Dan’s whole catfish dinner.
