SETTING PRETTY

What a lovely day! Even though we knew it was super windy out in the Chesapeake Bay, it was excellent tucked back here just off the Rappahannock River. After making a few minor repairs and adjustments to our trailered tender, Dan took us all out to explore the many marinas located back here in the Deltaville area. We were finally able to discard the many extra layers of clothing that we had been piling on for warmth for the last few days.

We found these little floating cabins to be charming but deserted now that the boating season is really over in the Chesapeake Bay area. I am sure they are “jumping” during the summer months.

CUTE LITTLE "FLOATING CABINS"

This heron was undaunted by our presence as we crept ever closer to his perch. Although he kept an eye on us he seemed to know that we were harmless.

THE REGAL HERON

Stingray Point is located right at the tip of Deltaville and, so the story goes, got its name from an incident that occurred during the early 17th century. It appears that Captain John Smith, founder of Jamestown, was zapped here by a stingray. Fearing death, he directed his men on the disposal of his body. Luckily for him a local Native American happened by and administered the cure.
