8/9/2010 MELOCHEVILLE TO ANCORAGE AT CORNWALL

JUDY AT THE BLOG

So long new friends in Melocheville! We headed just around the corner to the Lower Beauharnois Lock where we made the 11:00 transit all by our lonesome. The Upper Beauharnois Lock flowed in just one mile and that was a solo too.

Pont Saint-Louis and Pont Valleyfield (bridges) were raised for our passage then we entered the Lake St-Francis with Ontario to our starboard and Quebec to our Port.

NOW OPENING FOR PASSING PLEASURE CRAFTS

Every once in a while a huge ship will round a bend and surprise us by her presence out of nowhere.

MIGHTY SHIP PASSING TO OUR PORT

We now have Québec to our starboard and Ontario to our port and are starting to enter an area with lots of islands. Cute little Squaw Island was inhabited and Hamilton Island was dotted with charming cottages.

We made anchor just to the NE of Pilon Island before reaching Cornwall, Ontario. A little Pasta Carbonara and a few hands of Gin (with the help of the Porter’s book of card came rules) and our evening was complete.
