We awoke this morning to a spectacular array of hot air balloons hovering over the shore to the west of our anchorage. What a sight to wake up to!

After pulling up anchor we kept to the inside today, taking in the sights of the ICW. There were lavishly landscaped estates, quaint tropical retreats, a modular home community and waterfront condos. We saw expansive trees weeping with Spanish moss alongside kingly palms and a smattering of pines. Even though many of the homes now sport the screened in patios we have pretty much managed to escape extreme problems with insects, baring a few pesky mosquitoes that appear in the evening.

St Augustine greeted us on the western shores of the ICW then we passed through the scheduled opening of the ornate Bridge of Lions before making a sharp right turn into the anchorage and mooring field of Salt Run. We snagged a mooring ball on our second run and were happy to be snug way before dark on this day. Dan was even able to watch the final holes of the Masters as Charl Schwartzek of South Africa won at 14 under par.
