This morning we walked to the nearby Duncan Donuts for a quick bite and “cuppa joe” (no power on the Quest) before scooting through the now functioning 9th Street Bridge at the 9:00 AM opening. We followed these cute square tugs that were working on the much needed new bridge construction.
TINY TUGS
Everything was going smoothly until “BUMP, GRIND” “What was that?” It appears that we kind of hit bottom right in the middle of the marked ICW channel. I don’t think that is supposed to happen!! All you mariners take heed and avoid 39*N X 18’ and 074*W X 33”. Since Dan was going slow we were able to work ourselves out of the shallow and continue on. Good job Dan!
While waiting for the Dorset Bridge to open, we found this darling home right on the water. Is it not just too, too cute?

Nearing Atlantic City we were impressed by the wind turbines, hotels and cute row houses.

Our home for the night is at Gardner’s Basin Marina, adjacent to the Atlantic City Aquarium and the Flying Cloud Restaurant. Kind of nice to eat lunch overlooking our Quest.

THE GANG!
Our afternoon consisted of blogging, searching for flights and rental car for the Hoffstadt’s return to civilization on Thursday, phone calls, getting the boat set up for power and water and short siestas. Our evening entailed a “jitney bus” ride to the Boardwalk, dinner at Atlantic City Bar and Grill and about a five mile walk before catching the “jitney bus” back to the dock. The entire time we expected to be pelted with the threatening rain but we only experienced a few scattered drops before making it back to the safety of our Quest.
Interesting fact from Dozier’s Waterway Guide: Atlantic City’s commuter airport is believed to be the oldest municipally owned airport in the world and the word “airport” was coined here because you can easily pull up to drop off or pick up crew members.
Also, Sam won his first round match in Wimbledon!
