I’ve got to say that we really put it in high gear today. By 10:15 Dan had visited both job sites and we were on our way back to Quest. The 280 miles seemed to go by quickly once we merged onto I-95 at Daytona Beach and began to pass recognizable towns and ports.
Dan gave in to a quick stop near St. Augustine to take on needed gas and some Florida citrus. Soon we were crossing the St. Johns River at Jacksonville. Shortly after passing Fernandina Beach we were back in Georgia. Even though it would take Quest about three days to travel from St. Augustine to the Savannah area on the ICW, we covered it in only about three hours in the car on I-95.

EVEN THOUGH I COULDN'T SEE THE MAXWELL HOUSE PLANT, I COULD ALMOST CONGER UP THE ENTICING AROMA. |
Since we had the car we used it to make a trip to Home Depot, Advanced Auto, Thunderbolt Marine Store, and Target for miscellaneous parts and supplies before having dinner at a local favorite haunt, Tubby’s Tank House. Not being aware of their Thursday’s Sunset Party, we were totally surprised to find the lot bursting with parked cars and the sounds of live music wafting from the porch. Our late arrival allowed us a seat at the inside bar as patrons began drifting away. The food was good and the staff congenial making it a winner all around.
