What a whirlwind trip! We flew from BWI to BOS then onto Rutland on Monday The Porter’s graciously delivered our car to the airport so we could have transportation and we all headed to Little Harry’s for a great dinner. Our few days in Vermont saw Dan taking care of some business issues and me visiting Chuck at Unlimited Images for a much needed hair cut and repair job. By Thursday we were heading to CA thanks to Robert’s JetBlue family benefits.
In California we spent time with Jackie and Ed (Dan’s mom and Dad), saw Shirley, visited Jan’s new abode, dined with the Colemans, Urangas, Ramages and Markeese. We were able to spend time with Jay and Cheryl Coleman on their new boat as Dan put Jay “through the paces” and helped with some maintenance issues.

Thursday the 19th found us on another airplane to Kauai for our Makoa’s high school graduation festivities. As soon as we landed on Kauai we were whisked off to the wonderful church celebration for their member graduates. Friday evening brought the graduation itself. You wouldn’t believe the lei-giving frenzy that took place on the field after graduation. The kids were anointed with fresh flower leis, tea leaf leis, candy leis, money leis, knitted leis, crotchet leis and ribbon leis! By evening’s end, Makoa could hardly see above the array around his neck.

During our time on Kauai we saw Keola perform his duties in the Torch Lighting Ceremonies at the Hyatt. We were finally able to get a “up close and personal” view of our lovely Takara’s smile without the braces and Talia’s school provided us with a lovely Hawaiian stepping up ceremony. Makoa’s graduation party on the 28th was held at Poipu Beach where family and friends enjoyed some mighty fine food and great company.

Our recently vacated house in Wilmington, NC acquired new tenants and our trip home to Quest gained a few steps. After landing in BWI on Monday evening (5/30), we rented a car and drove almost to Wilmington, spent the night, finished the drive on Tuesday, rented a U-Haul truck, loaded the furniture, returned the rental car and were on our way to VT by 2:00 PM. After stopping for a few hours sleep north of Baltimore we continued our journey to Middletown Springs where we unloaded the furniture at the house (with Steven’s help) and met the Hansons for dinner in Rutland. Now, if that wasn’t convoluted enough, our Thursday morning, 7:00 AM Cape Air flight to Boston was cancelled. Steven ended up driving us to Boston the next morning at 3:15 AM in one of the Hanson’s cars. With much help from our family and friends we had a successful trip away from our home on the Quest.
We made it back to Quest Thursday afternoon, June 6.
Our last weekend at Joe and Suzanne’s was spent on a little preparation for our Monday departure but mostly we just enjoy their company. Joey and Cassidy came to the shore again to play. Also Keith, Tara and Luke spent Saturday and Sunday at the house and brought their friend Casey. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thanks so much Fischer Family for your generous hospitality and fabulous company!
